I have a confession.
I am not fashionable.
Like, at all.
I have had the same style, or a variable of the same style since I was in High School. This style is very casual and generally not very feminine.
My uniform includes jeans or khakis, some sort of comfy top (when I was younger it would entail a band tshirt), a sweater or jacket, shoes preferrably with a heal because I am pretty short, and any accessories must be simple. No diamonds and bling on this girl!
Girlfriends used to tease me about my “uniform”. Another friend threatened to burn my favorite black tank top, because I wore it so often.
I was ok with it, still am really. It is my comfort zone.
I have been in this same fashion rut FOREVER.
I put together a couple of boards on Polyvore of outfits that are very very similar to what I wear most days. Just so you get the visual of what I look like most of the time.
Notice the trend. Kind of sloppy. Drab colors. Casual. This is really really my style. I know… terrible. I told you it was a confession. I love nice clothes, some of them are very high end even, but if it does not fit into this “uniform”, I feel uncomfortable. You can see more of my style on my pinterest as well.
Here is the reason for my confession. I am trying to break out of my comfort zone a bit. Now that I am solidly in my 30s…eeek, I feel that I should maybe dress a little more feminine. Dare I say that I should possibly wear a dress now and then? Gasp!
Let me share with you a little inspiration.
What do you think? The amazing thing is that I have all the pieces (or similar ones) to this outfit except that pretty little dress. I could totally put this together with minimal expense.
I know, I know… still pretty drab. Still pretty safe. Baby steps, folks, baby steps. Haha!
Do you ever feel like you are in a fashion rut? What helps you break free?

I thiink you look stylish even in your jeans. But the outfit with the dress and hat is so cute. I have trouble getting out my comfort zone too.
Look at you breaking’ through! I, personally have always thought you dressed cute, but that is based on middle school and high school.;)
Now, here’s a confession for you that will help you slip into your pretty little dress with ease…wear a dress on your “I-feel-so-fat” days. It will comfort your waist line, plus, you’ll feel cute and feminine and ready to face your jeans the next day. (I do it all the time!) How’s that for honesty?!
Changing my style makes maintaining my weight exciting and it motivates me to keep on exercising. You just talked me into shopping tomorrow! Thanks, Leah!
