I told you last week that we bought a new couch. Her pretty decorative pillows were well, not so pretty. In fact they were down right hideous. Here is a little reminder.
I think it is a rule. The designers of couches think to themselves, how can we get these people to spend more money? Hmmm, lets make the pillows ugly so people will come back into the store and buy nicer ones. Unless you are spending around 2-3 thousand dollars on a couch, the pillows are going to be hideous.
That is an easy fix though.
Here is our little couch now after a pillow facelift. Much better!
To cover the large pillow I used my envelope pillow tutorial and some modern and bold fabric. You can find that tutorial here. I tossed on a few other pillows that I had from our old couch.
As for the extra pillow that came with the couch, I made a gray cover for it as well and it has become a floor pillow. We love floor pillows in our house, they are great for lounging and playing board games or doing puzzles. Or if you have friends over and they need something soft under thier tushie.
Thats how you take ugly couch pillows from a factory and give them a custom feel, eh?
If you don’t remember my little tutorial on making the pillow covers you can see it here.
What do you think? Is it a change for the better?
