A Birthday Adventure

My oldest, Ezra, has outgrown big overblown birthday parties.  He is much to sophisticated for parties and balloons.  (Tear, tear)  He seems to want experiences these days for his birthday celebration.  Which is fine with us, because it gives us an excuse to do something fun together as a family.

This year he wanted to go to the Glenwood Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs which is about 3 hours away from us.  Above is the picture of the hotel attached to the park that we stayed in.  If you are ever in Glenwood, I recommend this place for people with kiddos.  The rooms are nice and clean and they have an indoor waterpark with a big two story water slide for the kids to enjoy!

Here is some of the fun we had in the Adventure Park.

From our Hotel we rode the gondola up the mountain.  This is the only way to enter the park!  Already an adventure.

Once in the park we had many choices for rides and entertainment.   It was amazing.  There were 2 roller coasters, one which was for toddlers and one which they claim to be the highest roller coaster in the US, only because it is on top of a mountain that is already at a high elevation.  There are some other rides for small children, lazer tag, a 4D theatre with short films playing, and the super fun Bobsled Ride.  The bobsled was our favorite for sure.

My father went on the HUGE swing that hangs out over the canyon, look down at the drop!  None of the rest of us were brave enough.  Look at how high that swings out over the canyon!

I did however get the guts up to try the bungee jump.  Let me tell you, that is an intense moment.  Telling yourself you are going to step of that ledge and fall.  Whew.  I did it though!

It was a fantastic day.  We spent the evening eating dinner and then swimming in the hotels lovely pool with a waterslide.  I would go again in a heart beat.  This boy was very happy and had a great birthday!

Here he is blowing out his birthday candle on a big piece of Tiramisu on the restaurant patio.

If you are planning a trip to the Glenwood Springs area I would hit up the adventure park!  Check out thier site HERE.

xoxo
