One day a few months ago, just as yard sale season was beginning I was driving down a street in my town. I looked over and saw a small wooden playhouse in a woman’s yard for sale. I screeched to a halt and promptly scurried over to her to inquire how much it was. Her reply was $50.
It was still a steal, the ones we had looked at online were anywhere from $200 to $400 new. (See HERE, HERE and HERE for some examples we looked at) This one did need some love though. As I was humming and haaaing, she came over and told me she would give it to me for $40! OK! Sold!
Hubby went to her house with his truck and picked that puppy up. Here is how it came to us.
The siding was a bit worn by the sun, the door was falling off the hinges, the roof was worn, it was covered in chalk scribbles. Hey, nothing a little love couldn’t fix!
Here is how it looks now.
I painted it white to match our house and painted the shutters and the door the same color as our house as well. It is a mini version of our home. Cute!
I also made a little address sign for it. How dorky am I? I bought the address plate at Walmart and cut out numbers with my Cricket. I Mod Podged them on. So cute! I added the half for effect, what do you think?
I love that we were able to make it a little customized for our yard. It matches our home perfectly. Most importantly, the boys have so much fun playing inside!

Awe, that’s way cute! I love the address. It’s the details that matter most.:)
