Being on Cape Cod earlier this summer definately heightened my love of all things coastal. (see that trip HERE) While there my grandmother took me to an amazing store called Maiden Voyage, in Mashpee MA on the Cape.
I found this beauty there and I hung her above my mantel. She looked a little lonely though.
On a trip to Hobby Lobby a few weeks later I found the perfect thing to accompany her over our fireplace. It was a black mirror in the clearance section for 75% off!
When I got it home and hung them together and dressed my mantel with the black lanterns I bought before Lucas’ pirate birthday, I was in love.
I think the dark and light compliment eachother nicely against the gray wall.
I have waited to blog about them because I was not sure I would grow tired of my new mermaid friend. However, I am proud to say that after a month and a half she is still one of my favorite things! I especially love her because I bought her on my trip to the Cape. I love to buy cute pieces on vacations to special places. It gives them a little more meaning than just having a “thing” you bought from Target or Pier One hanging on your wall. Instead you have the memories from your trip hanging there.

I think she looks fantastic! I feel the same way you do about decorating my home. I absolutely love to look at something and be reminded of a happy memory or vacation! I don’t think that you will grow tired of it for that very reason!
She’s cute! I love the black mirror with it.:)
