We are on week two of school being in session. I don’t know about you, but once school started we had to get into a pretty rigid morning and afternoon schedule.
Here is a sign I made for Ezra to keep hung in his room. It has been a little reminder for him of what he needs to do in the morning. It seems to be helping him move through out the morning and take care of what he needs to do to get ready.
Of course, I had to make it match his room decor, because I am a big dork like that!
Having a spot for the boys to keep thier items that they need for the day is a big part of it.
I mounted some hooks on the inside of the coat closet that are dedicated just for thier items.
This is where they put them when they come home, and this is where they find them when it is time to go in the morning. These items do not migrate past this point once inside. Jackets and backpacks do not get tossed in the living room or worn back to bedrooms. I have learned that is a great way to lose 15 minutes in the morning. Running around trying to track down backpacks, jackets and shoes makes me crazy!
I also placed tags on the insides of thier jackets. Ezra lost three jackets (yep, that is a lot), and two hats, last fall at school in the lost and found that were never returned to us. The teacher told me I needed to put a name inside so they can find out whose it is when it is returned at the front office. I am hoping by having his name ironed on the inside of his items it will help them find thier way back to our house.
If you are interested in where I purchased these you can check out Kiddo Tags. I like this option since my kids clothes will be handed down. It comes out easier than a sharpie marker, but has held up well to washing.
Click the logo below for more information on thier products. They were really affordable to purchase and came in a sheet of 20 for $16. I will have enough tags to get them through college! Not a bad investment when you think one tag can save you a $40 jacket! ( click on the logo below to head to thier site)
I also paid the extra fee to have his lunch box embroidered when I ordered it from Pottery Barn. (I bought the backpack and lunchbox combo when they had the end of school clearance in June. (I think I got both the backpack and lunchbox with embroidery for under $35. Total SCORE!) I am glad I did this because Ezra said there are two other kids that have the same lunchbox as he does.
Do you have any tricks for keeping jackets and outerwear organized for your kids. Any tips on helping them keep from losing them?
xoxo

I love the name tags! I need some Montalvo tags.
Great ideas! No reason for Ezra not to make it to school in time and keep a hold of his belongings.:)
